Prior to becoming an actor she began modeling as a young model. Her nomination for the Theatre World Award for "one of the most promising actors 1956-2005" for her part in The Potting Shed. Lynley started her film career in the year 1958 with The Light in the Forest, a Disney film The Light in the Forest, followed by Holiday for Lovers (1959) and Blue Denim (1959). In 1959, she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award as Most Promising Female Newcomer Female. A year later she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer - Female for the film Blue Denim.
