Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 until April 9 2021) was known as DMX was an American actor and rapper. He began his rap career in the early 1990s and released his debut album , It's Dark and Hell is Hot in 1998 to both critical acclaim as well as commercial success, selling 251,000 copies within its first week of release. The best-selling album of DMX,... and Then There Was X came out in 1999. The album featured the smash single "Party Up (Up In Here). The singles from 2003 "Where the Hood At?" His 2003 singles, "Where the Hood at?" and "X Gon to Make It To Ya" were commercially successful. He was the first artist to ever have an album debut that reached No.1 in the Billboard 200 charts five times consecutively. 7 DMX sold more than 74 million albums around the world. 8. DMX was in movies such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave as well as Last Hour. In 2006, he appeared in the reality series DMX: Soul of a Man that was broadcast on the BET cable television network Never Die Alone. He published an autobiography of his memoirs, E.A.R.L. in 2003. : The Autobiography of DMX. 9. DMX began his career in the business of music at 14 as a beatboxer in Ready Ron. After serving time in prison for taking a dog the rapper started writing his own songs and performed at the local rec center for the younger children. While in prison for carjacking, he spent the majority of his time writing lyrics. He also began rapping with K.Solo. The release came in the summer of 1988, and then began to make and sell mixtapes of his own. In these mixtapes, he rapped over songs from other artists and sold them at street corners. This helped him build a local fanbase all across New York. DMX made an appearance on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show in 1991, along with Percee P on which they both freestyled. [15The 15-year-old DMX would later make a demo CD featuring "Spellbound" together with "Critical Condition", "Three Little Pigs", "The Original Author of Spellbound" and "Unstoppable Force". It was a style that was similar to Big Daddy Kane and Rakim however, it was different from his later material. 3] In 1991, The Source magazine praised DMX as a member of its Unsigned Hype column that highlighted unsigned hip-hop artists. In the year 1991, Columbia Records signed DMX as a subsidiary label to Ruffhouse Records. The single, "Born Loser", was his debut single. 17 years later, his second single, "Make A Move", was released in 1994. He appeared together with Jay-Z, Ja Rule, and Mic Geronimo on the iconic underground song "Time to build" on Mic Geronimo's debut album in 1995.DMX passed away on the 9th of April 2021, after an attack of the heart caused by cocaine.
